Race four, Anglesey

Great track is used by fifth gear as their test track. Very windy though, especially on the back straight where flat out in fifth bikes tend to wobble due to being blown about. Anglesey was an excellent weekend culminating in a third on Saturday and a second on Sunday. To be fair it was third of three and second of two riders in each race however you have to be in it to win it.

Was actually challenging for the lead in the final race and spent the first few laps right on the leader’s tail. While attempting a slingshot past him by exiting a corner faster than he was, ground my peg into the track, flat out in fourth banked right over with knee firmly down, this lifted the back of the bike up so that the rear wheel was no longer on the track. Recovered the moment however ended up on the grass so that trashed the tyres for the next three corners and with it any chance of catching the leader again.

Down side was my oppo low siding and his fuel filler cap coming off mid slide, sparks from the sliding bike ignited the fuel and it all made rather a mess of bike and circuit resulting in the session being red flagged and it being the end of his weekend. Rider luckily was fine, pride aside. Unfortunately his son also had a bad day on the track as his engine seized flat out on the back straight and catapulted him head first into the tarmac at 110 mph. Air ambulance to Bangor revealed road rash and concussion so not an experience to repeat but could have been worse.
